I have a Hp Pavillion Model# 15sc0057od and my usb c port does not detect a second monitor when connected a box pops up that says limited. How can I connect 2 monitors to this device? Is it compatible with a docking station that provides more outputs?

Take a look at the bottom of your notebook in the tiny printed letters and find the ProdID. Post it here in your next response.
HP Pavilion 15sc0057od does not exist. It will be better if you use the ProdID which is the same as the product number.

You can connect two displays by using the USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge) and the HDMI port.
The USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge) is on the left side.
You will need to purchase a USB type-c to HDMI external video adapter or cable. examples are at the link below

I purchased this item from 2 different PC stores and even had there IT department connect the 2 monitors in the store. It seem like when u connect to the port the PC detects something has been inserted and a window pops up says display is limited. Both stores advised my laptop usb c drive is not capable of showing a display. I thought this was a waste for a fairly new HP Laptop to have such limitations when the price wasn’t cheap.

only the usb type-c port on the left hand side is capable of providing video signals to an externsl monitor or display.
The two usb ports on the right hand side are not.
Look at the icons next to the ports.
