Microsoft Windows 11

I have my HP M27ha monitor plugged in my HP dragonfly via an HDMI to usb-c converter cable.  Unfortunately the monitor nor the computer recognizes each other.  Is there a way to fix this?

Hi @DanGreen01

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Product. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Here are some steps to help resolve the issue:

1. Test the Cable and Converter

  • Try a Different Cable: The HDMI to USB-C converter cable could be faulty. If possible, try using a different HDMI to USB-C adapter or cable to see if the monitor is recognized.
  • Test with Another Device: Connect your HP Dragonfly to a different external display, or use another device with the M27ha monitor to check if either the monitor or cable is at fault.

2. Check Monitor Settings

  • Ensure Correct Input: On the HP M27ha monitor, make sure that the input source is set to HDMI. You can do this by using the monitor's on-screen display (OSD) menu.

3. Update Display Drivers and Firmware

  • Update Drivers: Make sure the display and graphics drivers on your HP Dragonfly are up to date. You can do this via the Device Manager
  • Update Monitor Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update for your HP M27ha monitor on HP's official support website.

4. Adjust Display Settings

  • Manually Detect the Monitor:
    • Right-click on your desktop and select Display Settings.
    • Scroll down and click Detect under Multiple Displays. This may prompt your Dragonfly to recognize the external monitor.

5. Check USB-C Port Compatibility

  • Ensure USB-C Supports Video Output: Not all USB-C ports support video output (DisplayPort Alt Mode). Check the specifications of your HP Dragonfly to confirm that the USB-C port supports video output.

6. Try Another Adapter Type

  • USB-C to HDMI Adapter: If you are using a single cable, try using a USB-C to HDMI adapter with a standard HDMI cable instead. This can help isolate whether the cable is the issue.

7. Restart Both Devices

  • Restart your HP Dragonfly and power cycle the monitor by turning it off and unplugging it for about 30 seconds before plugging it back in.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
