Hi @Katty1201,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried some basic troubleshooting steps, but let's delve a bit deeper into resolving the webcam issue on your HP 14 Laptop.

  • Check Device Manager: First, ensure that the webcam is recognized by your system. Right-click on the Start button, then select Device Manager. Look for any entries related to imaging devices or cameras. If you see your webcam listed, right-click on it and select Properties. Check if there are any error messages.
  • Update Drivers: Even if you've already tried updating, it's worth checking again. Right-click on the webcam device in Device Manager and select "Update driver." Choose the option to search automatically for updated driver software. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.
  • Reinstall Drivers: If updating the drivers didn't help, try uninstalling them completely and then reinstalling them. In Device Manager, right-click on the webcam device and select "Uninstall device." Restart your computer and let Windows reinstall the drivers automatically, or visit HP's website to download the latest drivers for your laptop model.
  • Check Privacy Settings: Sometimes, privacy settings can block access to the webcam. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera, and ensure that "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on. Also, check individual app permissions to ensure that the apps you're trying to use the webcam with have access.
  • Check Antivirus/Firewall Settings: Your antivirus or firewall software might be blocking the webcam. Temporarily disable these programs and see if the webcam starts working. If it does, you'll need to add an exception for the webcam or adjust the settings accordingly.
  • Perform System Restore: If the webcam issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a point before the problem occurred. Search for "System Restore" in the Start menu, open it, and follow the prompts to restore your system to an earlier point in time.
  • Hardware Check: If none of the software solutions work, there might be a hardware problem with the webcam itself.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the webcam issue on your HP 14 Laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
