Hello guys, my hp omen 15 laptop developed a touchpad problem after I updated my windows 10. After booting up, the touchpad worked fine for like a minute then froze. it would become responsive for like a few seconds, then freeze again. I restarted my laptop and to my surprise, the cursor had disappeared, I had to hold ctrl to bring back the cursor and if I let go of ctrl, the touchpad would become unresponsive. I checked the current mouse drivers and found it had updated to Synaptics SMBus touchpad. I rolled back to the previous version which is PS/2 compatible mouse, the touchpad worked only now, copy & paste and scrolling functions ain't working on the touchpad, which makes doing tasks on the laptop very frustrating. I really need help with this one. Thanks in advance

Hello, thanks for your support guys...unfortunately that didn't work. I installed all the updates, after I installed the synaptic update and rebooted my pc, I have to press cntrl to show the cursor. The cursor is stuck in place and I have to hold cntrl to move it. I did a battery test with hp diagnostics and the test shows my battery is weak. My battery's ability to hold charge has dropped over time and I did not single out the battery to be the culprit of this issue. Could this be the issue?
Thanks in advance.

Hello @john_mwangi
<Touchpad Issue>
This is probably a technical problem.
Hp warranty valid -> Contact HP Support
HP warranty expired -> Replace touchpad
In your case: Service is required !
- The computer should be disassembled and checked.
- [Always recommended] Thermal paste for CPU GPU and bridges should be renewed
- [Always recommended] The function of the fan(s) must be checked
- Check touchpad cable / replace touchpad
- General cleaning ...
If you can't do that, you should have it serviced by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store.
Good luck
