My GPU hasnt been registering in the devica manager and yet I can see it in AIDA64 so I would like to try and flash the bios on the GPU except I cant find it online and HP customer service hasnt exactly been helpful so if someone on here can help out it would be much appreciated. The GPU is the Nvidia Geforce 840m.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I see that you're wanting to flash the bios, as it's not getting recognized in bios,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Are you getting any error message or code when the computer starts up?
  • Have you tried uninstalling reinstalling the drivers?

While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

Let's try Updating the BIOS: Click Here

Thanks for the response. I have updated the bios to the latest version already and I cannot do anything in terms of drivers since the bios on the GPU isnt present or corrupted, it means that the device does not show in the computers information (device manager, AIDA64 etc) so I wish to try the bios flash as a last resort to see if I can repair the GPU or if I need a more experienced person to try too.

Thank you for posting back.

Downloading and installing updates to the computer BIOS also known as 'flashing the BIOS'. Installing the BIOS incorrectly can prevent the computer from starting or being recovered. To get the answer to this question, simply following the on-screen instructions you will be able to update the bios.

Click Here to flash the bios.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

I think you may have missed what my question was. What I need isnt the BIOS for the actual motherboard, but the specific BIOS for the GPU in my laptop (the Geforce 840m) and flashing this bios is different to what you have described. What I need is the .rom file for the 840m to use with NVflash, not a basic BIOS install.

Thank you for posting back.

To get the answer to this question, the file you're looking for is part of bios batch files and it can not be provided separately,

However, please do not change BIOS files, this is the shortest route to brick your machine. You need to use the official file from HP.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
