Microsoft Windows 11

I want tu ses my Spectre 360 as a desktop pc, with its physical keyboard active but in tablet mode as it is connected to an external monitor. This was happening until recently, but after moving and reconnecting my  equipment the physical key board no longer operates in tablet mode.

Try these steps:

1. Reconnect and Setup Devices

Connect External Monitor:

  • Connect the HDMI or DisplayPort cable from the external monitor to your HP Spectre x360.

Connect External Mouse:

  • Connect a USB or Bluetooth mouse to your HP Spectre x360.

Ensure Proper Keyboard Functionality:

  • Make sure your device’s physical keyboard is functioning properly by testing it in laptop mode first.

2. Configure Windows Settings

Open Display Settings:

  • Right-click on your desktop and select Display settings.

Set External Monitor as Primary Display:

  • Scroll down to the Multiple displays section.
  • Check the box for Make this my main display to set the external monitor as the primary display.

3. Keyboard Settings

Disable Auto Keyboard Lock:

  • Sometimes, enabling tablet mode disables the physical keyboard. Ensure that the auto keyboard lock feature in tablet mode is turned off.
  • Go to Settings > System > Tablet.
  • Find the setting that disables the keyboard in tablet mode and turn it off.

Check Keyboard Layout:

  • Ensure the keyboard layout settings are correct by going to Settings > Time & Language > Language > Keyboard settings.

4. Update or Roll Back Drivers

Update Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager by searching in the taskbar.
  • Expand Keyboards, right-click on your keyboard device, and select Update driver.
  • Follow the prompts to install any pending updates.

Roll Back Drivers:

  • If the recent updates caused issues, you might need to roll back the drivers.
  • In Device Manager, right-click the keyboard device, select Properties, switch to the Driver tab, and click Roll Back Driver.
