I have tried to disable my touchpad on my computer by uninstalling the program through the touchpad settings in the change settings section only to have it tell me that I need to restart my computer to finish the process but when I start it up again, the touchpad has been automatically reinstalled again.  How do I get around this problem?

I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to Remote into your computer and sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

And, also try this workaround: Windows Key+I > Devices > Touchpad > Toggle Touchpad to OFF.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,  I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • The device properties are available through the "Control Panel." To turn the touchpad off, click "Start" and then "Control Panel."
  • Double-click the "Mouse" settings. Click the "Device Settings" tab, and click "Disable" to disable the touchpad.
  • You can select "Enable" to use it again.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

No sorry.  Doesn't help me.  I don't have a disable on my computer.  At least I do but it is not highlighted but stays grey so I don't get to use that button.  I have tried going in and uninstalling as I have a wireless mouse but the computer tells me that I have to restart the computer to finishing uninstalling.  I have done that a few times but the computer keeps on reinstalling it.  I'm just about to rip my hair out.  I have found a touchpad blocker in ad ons but it also blocks my mouse.  Frustrating to say the least.  Thanks for your reply though.

Thanks for your help.  Looks like the problem has fixed itself somehow.  My touchpad no longer works.  Maybe the touchpad blocker I installed actually fixed the problem.  Uninstalling the touchpad numerous times didn't do the trick.

Thank you for your replies to my queries.

Have a great day.
