HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer

I have an HP Office JetPro 6968 all-in-one printer and there is a question mark in the dashboard that I would like to get rid of.  I think that may be why it will not print when I initiate it to, but many hours later.

Hi @MTV07,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The question mark on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 all-in-one printer's dashboard typically indicates that there is an issue or error that needs attention. To resolve this and potentially fix the printing delay issue, you can follow these steps.

  • Check for Error Messages: On the printer's display panel, look for any error messages or additional information associated with the question mark. This might provide more specific details about the problem.
  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, simply turning off the printer, waiting a few seconds, and then turning it back on can resolve minor issues. Try this and see if the question mark disappears.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Ensure that there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Even a small piece of paper can trigger an error.
  • Update Firmware/Software: Visit the HP website and check if there are any firmware or software updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues and improve printer performance.
  • Check Ink or Toner Levels: Low ink or toner levels can also cause printing problems. Make sure you have sufficient ink or toner in your cartridges.
  • Clear Print Queue: If you have pending print jobs in the printer queue, it can sometimes cause delays. Clear the print queue by canceling any pending print jobs.
  • Connectivity Issues: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's a wireless printer, check the Wi-Fi connection. Sometimes, network issues can lead to delays.
  • Driver Issues: Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Outdated or corrupt drivers can lead to printing problems.
  • Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on your printer. This will reset all settings to their defaults, so use this option only if other troubleshooting steps have failed.

Remember that it's important to identify the specific error message or issue displayed on the printer's dashboard for a more accurate diagnosis. Once you've resolved the question mark issue, your printer should be able to print without delays, assuming there are no other underlying problems.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
