Solved!

IGFX display driver crashing - when will HP finally update the driver?

HP Recommended
HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab29
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a signature edition HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab29 which is 5 months old and since the beginning the display IGFX driver has been crashing. The issue happens on different  websites and occasionally when some software is running.

I have updated all the drivers to the newest ones, updated Windows 10 and it's still crashing. When will HP find a solution to this problem and updated the display driver?

thanks,

Dan

Hi @Enjosh,

Welcome to HP Forums! It is a great place to post your questions.

I read your post, and understand that  the display driver crashed often when you were browsing on webs and when playing certain programs. I want to help fixing the problem. I searched using HP Pavilion Notebook - 15 - ab29, but I did not get any result. I think you may have missed one letter at the end of the model name. Please review this document: How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number? to find out the exact product number. So I could check the drivers for you.

Looking forward to your reply!

So, the exact model is HP Pavilion Notebook - 15 - ab292nr, but like I said I have already updated all the drivers to the newest available. If you have some other solutions please let me know.

Hi @Enjosh,

Thank you for the reply!

I understand that you may have already updated all the drivers. You may still check if the BIOS (F.78 Rev.A) sp75294.exe, chipset driver (10.1.1.9 Rev.A) sp72862.exe, and graphic driver AMD (15.200.1045.0 Rev.B) sp71980.exe or Intel ( 20.19.15.4360 Rev.A) sp74697.exe are the same as shown on the link of http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-15-ab200-Notebook-PC-series-(Touch)/8502...

If all the drivers are already up to date, and the problem still persists, please use the following link http://www.hp.com/contacthp to create a case for your issue, and contact HP. If you live outside the US/Canada, please click the link http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html to get the contact information for your region.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

I have updated the BIOS driver and have been running it for few days without the IGFX crashes, so it looks like the BIOS has improved the issues or maybe even fixed it completely.

The only issue remaining is that ocasionally when a browser is minimized in the task bar and I click on it from the task bar to maximize it the browser goes completely white. If I click on it again to minimize and maximize the page goes to the normal view of the page that was previously opened there. This maybe still some graphics driver issue.

Another thing is I don't know why on your drivers page there is the chipset driver 10.1.1.9 while I already have the chipset driver updated to 10.1.1.13. I have updated this directly from the device management driver update. So, it looks like there is an old version on the HP website.
