Hello,
So for the past week I have been seeing my browser/desktop icons burnt-in/Shadows after using them for an hour or two. It is never immediate or as soon as I switch back on. It takes 1-2 hours for the tabs that I use in my browser to show up as burnt-in.
I ran the LCD image retention test and it does retain the boxes, both black and white.
I change my background to plain white, hid the icons, while I work on my second screen but it takes ages to get rid of the shadows on the laptop screen when the other screen is being used. Also its just on the top left quadrant the most and a little bit on the bottom left as well.
I use my browser in dark mode.. and other apps I use have a slightly dark themes as well.
After shutting it down for about half an hour it get backs to normal but immediately starts picking up the shadows.
My screen also flickers a lot if I reduce the brightness. For example if 1 is the lowest brightness and 10 the highest, when I reduce it to 5 or lower the screen starts flickering extensively. I have to push the brightness up to 7-8 to get the screen to stop flickering. I can push back to 6 again and the screen works as it should.
But keeping the brightness at 6 I open an application, like Photoshop, it starts to flicker again and I have to push the brightness up to 8-9 to make it stop and then keep it at 7-8, so that it doesn't repeat again.
I went to ubreakifix and they wanted to run diagnostics and said that it'd take two days, which I can't afford since its a WFH situation these days. The guy also said that its a bit weird since a screen burn-in usually stays there for ever, he suggested it might an image retention issue.
So can anyone help me out? What exactly is the issue? Do I need a new screen or LCD?
My laptop is up to date with today's Win 10 updates.
Also my laptop stays on for 16-18 hours a day, these days. I switch it off whenever I am not using it, but this work from home situation seems to have made it worse.
1 is the burn-in/retention.
2 is the screen flickering.
Any help is appreciated,
Thank you,1
