Any Notebooks
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

It's easy to buy a new HP Notebook from online-vendors.

But one pre-sale key information is very hard to get:

Display's Luminosity properties: they are kept in secrecy, most of the time.

Some vendors offer data about this, most of them don't.

Best thing: HP user manuals (for particular notebooks) do not help at this point.

Is there an HP resource to get knowledge about display properties,

such as luminous intensity, "candela power" or alike?

Or any web resources?

Thank you 🙂

You have to look at its manual and HP normally ONLY supplies information similar to the following list:

  • 15.6-in, full high-definition (FHD), white light-emitting (WLED), BrightView (1920×1080), slim-flat (3.2-mm), UWVA, eDP, 220 nits, 16:9 ultra wide aspect ratio, TouchScreen display assembly
  • 15.6-in, high-definition (HD), WLED, BrightView (1366×768), slim-flat (3.2-mm), SVA, eDP, 200 nits, 16:9 ultra wide aspect ratio, TouchScreen display assembly
  • 15.6-in, FHD, WLED, AntiGlare (1920×1080), slim-flat (3.2-mm), UWVA, eDP, 220 nits, 16:9 ultra wide aspect ratio non-TouchScreen display assembly
  • 15.6-in, FHD, WLED, BrightView (1920×1080), slim-flat (3.2-mm), UWVA, eDP, 220 nits, 16:9 ultra wide aspect ratio non-TouchScreen display assembly
  • 15.6-in, FHD, WLED, AntiGlare (1920×1080), slim-flat (3.2-mm), SVA, eDP, 220 nits, 16:9 ultra wide aspect ratio non-TouchScreen display assembly

Regards.

Dear Banhien,

That's helpful, thank you so much!

Not all manuals include luminosity data ("nits"), it seems.

For my favorite, the HP 17-ca1131ng

https://support.hp.com/ch-de/document/c06527023

or

https://support.hp.com/ch-de/product/hp-17-ca1000-laptop-pc/26210380/model/32885455/bulletins-notice...

HP provides no data in its German documents

https://support.hp.com/ch-de/product/hp-17-ca1000-laptop-pc/26210380/model/32885455/bulletins-notice...

while the vendor speaks about 300 nits

https://www.notebooksbilliger.de/notebooks/hp+17+ca1131ng+637554

For my 2nd favorite, the HP ProBook 470 G5 4QW94EA,

it is the other way around...

I found only an English HP resource

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05695303.pdf

which states 300 nits,

while the vendor

https://www.notebooksbilliger.de/notebooks/hp+probook+470+g5+4qw94ea+374755

says nothing about luminosity.

Maybe english  HP resources are more complete.

Thank you again, now I know where to get information.

Happy New Year 2020  🙂
