Yes, the service status was OK.

Tried asking the device manager to search for an update again to no avail.

Did you mean for device manager to look for an update somewhere on my computer?

Device driver successfully installed, but it does not resolve the issue when playing games:

"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered - Display driver Intel HD Graphics driver for Windows 8(R) stopped responding and has recovered."

HP Recommended

I disabled the Intel HD graphics driver, and used the NVIDIA graphics driver to play the game.  No problem.

Disabling the Intel driver resulted in the fan speed reving at a higher speed intermittently.

HP Smart Friend support assured me that the higher fan speed behavior would not result in problems with premature hardware failure down the road.  Do you concur?

They indicated my choices were to keep the Intel HD graphic driver disabled and use the NVIDIA solely, or live with the problem until HP releases a newer Intel driver - it only affects game playing, all other functions appear to be normal.

On 11/25/2015 I asked device manager to search for new driver updates for the Intel HD Graphics Driver.

It successfuly found and installed 10.18.15.4248 - no revision letter listed.

Windows Update also successfully installed a Cumulative Update for version 1511 (KB3120677) a few minutes later.

Neither of these actions resolves the malfunctioning Intel Graphics driver.  The error message with the driver continues.

I tried downloading 4248 Rev C. from HP Support.  It does not install, indicating that the driver is not valid for this computer.

Back on 11/18, the Windows 10 1511 ugrade installed 10.18.15.4256 dated 7/17/2015.  This is when the driver malfunction first started.  4256 is more recent than the one on the HP Support site, SO WHERE IS IT COMING FROM?

Windows obviously found it and installed it during the upgrade.  I suspect it does not conform to whatever "customization" HP made to the Intel driver when the system was manufactured.  The Intel Driver Update utility is smart enough to recognize a manufacturer "customization" and not allow a driver update from Intel.

I had performed a rollback to the previous version 4248, but this did not resolve the problem.

Did the 4256 driver installation durong the Windows upgrade mess up the HP "customization"?

Is this now why I can no longer install an update from the HP Support site?

What is the nature of the "customization" HP does to the driver as delivered from manufacturing?

How do I restore whatever "customization" HP supplied with the Intel driver?

This appears to be a real "catch-22", as the customer no longer has control over selection or timing of updates from Microsoft.

Case in point:

My NVIDIA Graphics driver was automatically upgraded to 10.18.13.5362 during the Windows 10 1511 update process.

Yesterday I downloaded 10.18.13.5324 Rev A - the most recent driver, with soft pack 71979 from HP.

Today Windows update reinstalled 5362!

Hey @Dgood43,

You would need to install the original Windows on this Notebook. That would restore all software and drivers.

Thanks.

HP ENVY 15 Notebook 15t-k200 CTO (Energy Star) Product Number: K2T35AV

I am also having the same issue with the Intel  4600 Graphics Driver but not with a game but with Firefox 42.0

Same error message

Before coming to the forum I went to support and tried to load sp72810.exe  10.18.15.4279

Received the same error message The driver being installed is not validated for this computer

Appears this may be only for the Intel 5500 and newer as 4600 was not referenced in the install.

Current driver is 10.18.15.4256  7/17/2015

I do not have the NVIDIA card, so only have the Intel 4600 and can't just disble the 4600 until a correct driver is released.

When can we expect a driver to released resolving this issue

Thanks

I also have this issue and since i got a 650 G1 i can only use the Intel drivers and is stuck with them.

When i play games the computer locks up completeley and while in windows i get this error on and off but a force restart is not needed in this case, only when playing a game.

It was working perfectly up untill a few weeks ago (maybe a month) for me, what happened?
