My laptop has been working perfectly fine for the past 15 months, until recently. The internal display suddenly started showing flickering black horizontal lines near the bottom 20% of my screen a few days ago. There seems to be something wrong with the way the screen is refreshing in those areas, as sometimes it freezes the image in that area for several seconds.
Based on testing and troubleshooting, the lines show up only when the monitor is running at 144Hz (it works fine at 60Hz), and mostly when there are lots of darker-colored pixels in that lower area. These lines do not show up on any external monitor that I have connected.
My device is still relatively new, and has not undergone any significant physical damage.
I have the latest version of Windows 10 installed, along with all drivers updated.
I have tried reinstalling the graphics drivers and running the HP support assistant troubleshooting, but they did not fix the issue.
This appears to be a recurring issue with the HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ecxxxx devices, as similar questions have been asked here:
What could be the cause of this, and how can it be fixed?
Thank you.
