Hello, I bought a new HP 255 G9 laptop (version with Ryzen 5-5625U). The laptop is new, I've had it for a few days, and from the beginning, there's an issue with the keyboard backlight. Specifically, when I turn on the computer, the keyboard is off, and I have to turn it on myself with FN + F5 (it doesn't remember that it was ON the last time). Moreover, most importantly, the keyboard always turns off after 30 seconds of inactivity, even if I set it to 3 minutes or NEVER in the BIOS. Regardless of this setting, the keyboard always turns off after 30 seconds. I've updated the BIOS and drivers, but the issue persists. What can I do?

Welcome to the HP Community --
Consumer grade machines, of which this machine is a member, typically lack the Bios controls to set the timeout to "Never".
What?
The behavior you are experiencing is standard for this computer type and model.

But in the BIOS, there is an option to set this to: 30 seconds, 3 minutes, or NEVER, which doesn't work. Despite all settings, the keyboard always turns off after 30 seconds. I would like this to be fixed. It's a laptop feature that should work properly.

"Yeah, but..."
Sure - got it.
Perhaps things have changed and consumer grade models support the "Never" timeout feature.
Contact HP Support -- when you submit the case request for repair, explain that your BIOS supports the timeout = Never feature but you cannot make use of the option.
