There are some keyboard marks on my screen. I tried cleaning it with a cloth because I thought it was just dirt or something, however, it remains visible. I tried all the basic troubleshooting, and nothing changed.

Hi @Sridhar3239,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the marks from the keyboard have somehow transferred onto your screen and are proving difficult to remove. This can happen due to pressure (e.g., if the laptop is carried in a tight bag) or if the keyboard and screen come into contact for extended periods, possibly transferring oils, dust, or other residues onto the screen.

Here are some steps and precautions you can take to try and remove those marks:

Microfiber Cloth: You mentioned using a cloth, but ensure it's a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth. This type of cloth is designed specifically for cleaning screens and will not scratch the surface.

Screen Cleaning Solution: If water does not work, use a screen cleaning solution designed for electronic displays. Spray the solution onto the microfiber cloth (not directly onto the screen) and gently wipe the screen in a circular motion. Avoid using household cleaners, as they can damage the screen.

Distilled Water: If you do not have a screen cleaner, you can also use distilled water to dampen the microfiber cloth slightly. Tap water is not recommended due to minerals that can leave residue.

Apply Gentle Pressure: Apply gentle pressure when cleaning. Do not press hard as this can damage the screen.

Protective Measures: To prevent future marks, consider using a keyboard cover or a thin, soft material placed between the keyboard and screen when the laptop is closed. This will act as a barrier to prevent contact.

Avoid Heat and Moisture: Excessive heat or moisture can make the residues more stubborn. Ensure your device is in a cool, dry place when attempting to clean it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
