i just bought a laptop for my daughter last October 2024 on a mall store for her school... but After 10 months of using it, a keyboard shadow appeared on the screen... I know my daughter is very careful on using it since i told her to care of it and it was hard earned to buy it... when I check the warranty on HP site... It was already expired on October 2024.  In the store I bought it.. it said no warranty on dead pixels... Is there possible way to fix it without paying since we really cannot afford it.

Hi @Ladybadtrip

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That sounds incredibly disheartening, especially after putting so much care and effort into choosing a laptop for your daughter. I really admire how thoughtful and protective you’ve been—it’s clear this device means a lot to both of you.

Let’s look at what might be possible here:

🧪 First, confirm if it’s a hardware issue or just a display setting
Try this quick test:

  • Restart the laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  • If the keyboard shadow still appears in BIOS, it’s likely a hardware issue (like screen pressure marks or backlight bleed).
  • If it disappears, it might be a software or driver glitch.

🧰 Try basic troubleshooting steps
Sometimes the shadow can be reduced or cleared with these:

  • Gently clean the screen with a microfiber cloth and LCD-safe cleaner.
  • Adjust brightness and contrast settings to see if it minimizes the shadow.
  • Update the display drivers via Device Manager or HP’s support page.

Let me know how it goes.
