Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended
HP Pavillion X360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The top row of keys(that control brightnes, volume etc) do not work properly

The screen brightness little window that used to just pop up when I changed the brightness with the unpper keys on the keyboard is stuck on permanenty.  It is always at 100 ever though the screen will dim using those keys.

The sound volume does not change.

It all started when I was wiping down the key board.  It was with a barely damp cloth.

When I go on the HP site to download the drivers, it works OK until I select a driver and then the page stops working.

I have been thinking a software/driver issue since so many keys were pressed.  Now maybe it is a keyboard failure.

I ran all the HP diagnostics and everthing is good.

Ideas?

Thanks,

Joe Widmayer

I was able to fix it.  It was the RealTek Audio controler.  I was mistaken about the screen indication.  I uninstalled the contoler, then re installed.

Only took about 4 hours.  It went quick when I stopped looking at brightness and did the audio.
