Hello,

For no reason the LCD screen started showing a black horizontal line, that is increasing in height and length.

It is visible even when the laptop is off.

 

I have read that replacing the ribbon cable can solve the problem.

Is it a ribbon cable problem or just the screen?

 

Where can I find a replacement - ribbon cable or lcd screen?

 

I am including a photo

I see that you are facing display screen issues with your HP Notebook - 15-Af101np (ENERGY STAR).

 

This could be a hardware issue with the unit and may need repair. 

 

I suggest that you contact HP Service Center in your location from this weblink: https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/service-center 
Note: Select your country from the dropdown,  enter the city or postal code, select the product, change the radius, and click on search to locate the nearest HP Service center near your location.
