Hi @Rui_03

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your PC is entering a power-saving mode when plugged in, which is causing significant FPS drops in games, even though the charger isn't visibly damaged. When the system detects a low power supply, it can throttle the CPU and GPU to save power, leading to performance issues. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

1. Check Power Settings

The power settings on your PC may be limiting performance when plugged in to conserve power. Here's how to adjust them:

Change Power Plan:

  • Open the Start Menu and type “Power Options”.
  • Click on Power & Sleep Settings.
  • Under Related Settings, click on Additional Power Settings.
  • Make sure you’re using the High Performance power plan or Balanced. If you're using the Power Saver plan, switch to one of the others.

Adjust Advanced Power Settings:

  • In the Power Options menu, click Change Plan Settings next to your active plan.
  • Click Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand the Processor power management section and make sure Minimum processor state is set to 100% when plugged in.
  • Set Maximum processor state to 100% as well. This ensures the CPU is not being throttled when plugged in.

Disable USB selective suspend (optional but useful if you have external peripherals):

  • In the Advanced settings tab, expand USB settings and disable USB selective suspend setting.

2. Battery and Charging Mode

If your laptop is detecting a low-power charger, the issue could be related to the charger or power delivery settings:

  1. Check Battery Health:
    • If the battery health is poor or the charger is not providing enough power, it could cause the system to reduce performance to save power. Check your battery health using your laptop's built-in diagnostics (e.g., HP Support Assistant for HP laptops).
  2. Try a Different Charger:
    • Test with another charger (if available) that has the same voltage and wattage rating as the original charger to see if the problem persists. Make sure you are using the original charger that came with the laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
