I have recently started having a problem with my built-in laptop camera where no external apps nor the camera app itself are able to functionally use my camera and instead just give me a blank screen every time. The camera app gives me an error code 0xA00F4292<PhotoCaptureStartTimeout> whenever I try to take a picture and says that the "file format is invalid" when I try to take a video. I have tried to troubleshoot this for multiple hours and nothing has worked. Here is a list of things I have already tried:
1) Checking the shutter key on the laptop
2)Checking for any Windows updates
3)Checking for graphics drivers updates on the HP support website
4) Using device manager to check for driver updates for the camera
5)Using device manager to uninstall the camera's drivers and scan for hardware changes to reinstall it
6) Checking the windows privacy setting and ensuring access is allowed for all apps
7) Checking 3rd party anti-malware software for camera access permissions (I only use Malwarebytes which does not have this feature and I checked for disabling it)
8)Using the Windows device troubleshooter
9)Editing the platform registry key
10)Enabling and running the Windows Camera Frame Server service
11)Adding camera settings UI host as an exception to the Windows Defender firewall
12) Downloading the most recent graphics drivers from HP support website
NONE OF THESE have worked so far and I have completely exhausted any existing forms or responses that I could possibly find and I am still stuck. The light still comes on when something tries to access the camera and the camera app isn't able to take pictures at all rather than taking blank pictures or messed up pictures, so I don't believe it should be a hardware issue (also because this laptop is very new and I have not dropped or otherwise damaged it in any way), but I cannot think of any other way I can try to solve this. If ANYONE has any ideas on how I could possibly fix this I would really really appreciate it.
