Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended
Pavilion 15auo63nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Like many other posts I have seen and read, my laptop will not "wake up" after I close the screen.  Unlike anything I have read so far, I have tried about everything to resolve this.

To continue, when I close the screen on my HP Pavilion -15auo63nr (rotate the screen to closed), when I reopen it, the screen is black and the ONLY way to get it to work is to turn the power off, then turn it back on again wherein it works as "normal"

I have tried the following with not success (I always have the laptop plugged in versus on battery)

1.  updated Bios

2.  ensured I have the latest Windows (10) update

3.  ensured I have the latest graphics driver update for this particular model

4.  enabled the keyboard to wake up the computer, and ensured I have the latest keyboard driver

5.  ensured i  have any and all of the latest HP drivers and updates

6.  set the sleep mode when unit is plugged in to NEVER

7.  set the screen mode when unit is plugged in to NEVER

8.  of course, restarted computer after any and all updates

9.  did all HP and Windows diagnostics, showing no problems

Completely baffled, not quite sure when this started and have done restore points from a month ago -- no success

Thanks, I should have already mentioned that I indeed was aware of Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03383935  and have performed all of the steps outlined there, with no success.

As far as performing the "reset" that you noted, while fortunately that process does allow you to keep all of your personal files, it removes all programs that didn't come with the PC, which for me is a list of around 40 to 50 programs that I would have to completely reinstall, which is really not very feasible.

So I guess I'm stuck with this problem unless I perform the reset, reinstall all of my other programs, and then HOPE that fixes the problem.

A Reset will fix the issue. But if you have lots of programs, you could try contacting HP Support in your region and an HP Engineer might be able to Remote into your Laptop and sort it out.

But you might still end up doing a Reset if everything else fails
