The LCD flickers and blacks out whenever I use the mouse or touchpad but not when I use the touch screen. It's an HP Envy which has recently been reformatted and installed with Windows 11. I already updated the Intel Graphics Card which stopped the flickering for a few days. However, the flickering returned so now I can only use the touch screen. I believe this is a driver/firmware conflict but I do not know which driver needs updating. Can my laptop model support a Windows 11 OS or do I need to roll back to Windows 10?

I understand your HP Envy laptop screen flickers or goes black when using the mouse or touchpad after installing Windows 11. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
Verify Windows 11 compatibility for your HP Envy
Check the exact model in System Information (msinfo32).
If the model is not validated for Windows 11, display and input driver conflicts can occur.
Install HP-specific Intel graphics drivers
Remove the current Intel graphics driver from Device Manager.
Download and install the graphics driver listed on HP’s support page for your model.
Prevent Windows from replacing the graphics driver
After installing the HP graphics driver, disable automatic driver updates.
This avoids Windows Update reinstalling an incompatible display driver.
Update the touchpad driver from HP
Install the Synaptics or ELAN touchpad driver provided for your model.
Touchpad driver conflicts can trigger flickering during cursor movement.
Update BIOS and firmware
Install the latest BIOS available for your HP Envy model.
Firmware updates often resolve power-management and display instability issues.
Disable hardware graphics acceleration features
Turn off Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling and Variable Refresh Rate (if available).
This reduces screen flicker caused by driver timing conflicts.
Test with an external mouse only
Connect a USB mouse and avoid using the touchpad temporarily.
If flickering still occurs, the issue is driver-related rather than touchpad hardware.
Consider rolling back to Windows 10 if the issue persists
If your model is not officially supported for Windows 11, Windows 10 provides better driver stability.
A rollback can permanently resolve recurring flicker issues.
I hope this helps.
