Hi @yagi_i,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 laptop might be experiencing issues with the display panel or the graphics driver. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the problem.

Check Display Connection:

  • External Monitor Test: Connect your laptop to an external monitor. If the flickering and dark corner do not appear on the external display, the issue is likely with the laptop's screen or its internal connection.
  • Cable Check: If you’re comfortable opening your laptop, check if the display cable is properly connected to the motherboard.

Update or Roll Back Drivers:

  • Graphics Driver: Even though your drivers are up to date, sometimes new updates can cause issues. Try rolling back to a previous version of the graphics driver.
  • Monitor Driver: Check if there are any updates for the monitor driver or display-related drivers.

Adjust Display Settings:

  • Brightness and Contrast: Adjust the brightness and contrast settings to see if it alleviates the issue.
  • Refresh Rate: Right-click on the desktop, select "Display settings," go to "Advanced display settings," and check or change the refresh rate.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Power off your laptop.
  • Disconnect all external devices and power sources.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power source and turn on your laptop.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Physical Damage: Inspect the screen for any physical damage.
  • Inverter and Backlight: Problems with the inverter or backlight could cause flickering.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP laptops come with built-in diagnostics tools. Restart your laptop and press Esc or F2 during startup to access HP’s diagnostic tools. Run the display test to check for hardware issues.

BIOS Update:

  • Sometimes, a BIOS update can resolve display-related issues. Check the HP support website for any available BIOS updates for your model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
