Hi @Harish222,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your laptop camera isn’t working, sweetheart. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check if the camera switch/shortcut is off

Many HP laptops have a camera privacy key (F8 or F10) or a physical shutter near the webcam.

Press the key once or slide the shutter open.

Make sure camera access is allowed in Windows

Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.

Turn Camera access ON and also enable it for the apps you use (like Teams, Zoom, WhatsApp).

Test the camera in the Windows Camera app

Search Camera in the Start menu and open it.

If it shows black/grey screen or an error, the system isn’t detecting the camera properly.

Reinstall the camera driver

Right-click Start > Device Manager > Cameras.

Right-click your camera → Uninstall device → Restart the laptop.

Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Check for Windows updates

Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates.

Some updates fix camera detection issues.

Reset the Camera app

Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Camera → Advanced Options → Reset.

This refreshes the app without affecting your files.

Do a hard reset

Turn off the laptop → unplug charger → hold the Power button for 15 seconds.

This clears temporary hardware glitches.

I hope this helps.
