Laptop screen cracked, common issue

Last night I open up my laptop and it has a barely visible crack across it. I did not drop it or anything like that, and it wouldn't be that big of a deal if it wasn't touch screen. Now after talking to someone who fixes laptops for a living he says that he fixes HP screens all of the time, and that, as mine did, they often crack for sometimes no reason at all about a year after purchase. I am very frustrated with this and the price for fixing these screens is exorbitant.
