HP Stream 14-cb161wm Laptop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I dropped my laptop and it still functions apart from the display being total black (caps lock + mute keys light up, charger and power lights respond, it shows up in bluetooth menus in other devices, etc.)

The brightest display it can output is the HP logo when it first boots up, but apart from that, not much visible. Although I did shine a light on it and it showed the time, but nothing else was visible. I'm guessing its a backlight issue, although I don't know.

Can anyone help?? :<

You could try hooking up an external monitor.  If that displays OK, that means the video chip and the motherboard video circuit are still intact and it is a screen issue.

Replacing a screen in modern laptops is very expensive as the laptop needs to be pried open to get at it.  This is considered "accidental damage", so even if it is new, that is not covered by the HP warranty -- so you would have to find a local laptop repair shop to order the parts and do the replacement.  But be sure to get a full cost estimate up front -- as this could easily cost more than simply replacing the laptop.
