I was just browsing around when my laptop's screen suddenly froze. I held in the power button to shut it down, but when I turned it back on, all I get now is a black screen with some tiny lines at the top.

In a sense, the screen is still "working", as I can see movement in those little lines. I can still do stuff if I connect my laptop to an external monitor via HDMI and whatnot. In fact, everything's still working perfectly fine... except the screen, of course.

I know it's not a software issue, as the laptop will do this the moment it turns on. I can't even see anything when I try to go into the BIOS menu.

Is my monitor just gone? And if anyone knows why it's doing this, is there any possibility of fixing this myself and how expensive it might be? (I have opened up and taken apart a laptop or two before, so I do have some experience.)

Here's my computer specs.

- HP Pavilion Gaming 15-DK (not sure the exact model)
- nVidia Geforce GTX 1050 / Intel UHD Graphics
- Intel(R) core(TM) i5-10300H CPU @ 2.50ghz 2.50ghz
- 16gb of ram
- Windows 10 Home x64
