Hello Hawks-Eye
The issue began after a windows update last week, contacted MS tech support they said the current BIOS will not support their latest update, WTH. I tried to update the bios, message said its up to date?
OS is Win 11
Laptop is a Pavilion x360 convertible
remote screen says "cable not connected"
pc says "didn't find another display"
Tried different usb cords, same issue
screen is plugged into LT directly into usb port, has been for several years, worked fine.
Plugged screen into wife pc works fine
Laptop screen works fine

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand the concern. If the laptop was previously detecting the HDMI-connected display and has now stopped doing so, even after trying multiple ports, that can interrupt a smooth multi-screen setup.
To help narrow this down before providing specific troubleshooting, could you share:
- What is the HP laptop model?
- Which operating system are you using (Windows 11, Windows 10, etc.)?
- Is the external monitor showing "No Signal," or is it not appearing at all in Display Settings?
- Have you already tried a different HDMI cable and confirmed the monitor works with another device?
- Did this begin after a Windows update, BIOS update, graphics driver update, or docking station change (if applicable)?
Also, please let us know if:
- The laptop screen itself is working normally.
- The monitor is connected directly to the laptop or through a dock/adapter.
Once we have these details, we can provide the most appropriate troubleshooting steps for the display detection issue.
We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!
Regards,
Hawks_Eye

@Hawks-Eye,
Took some effort, I was able to find a BIOS update released in 2022 for my pc, uploaded and install the update. After installation was complete, the issue was resolved, TG.
Thank you for your help & support!

Thank you for the update and for sharing the outcome.
I'm glad to hear you were able to locate and install the BIOS update for your HP Pavilion x360 and that the external display is now being detected correctly.
Based on your update, the issue appeared after a Windows update, with symptoms including:
- External monitor showing "Cable not connected"
- Windows reporting "Didn't find another display"
- Multiple USB cables tested with the same result
- Monitor working normally when connected to another PC
After successfully installing the available BIOS update, the display functionality was restored and the second monitor was detected again.
Thank you for taking the time to return and share the resolution. This information will be helpful for others experiencing similar display detection concerns after a system update.
It's great to hear your Pavilion x360 is now working as expected with the external screen.
If you have any more questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. We're here to help!
Thanks again for your confirmation, and we wish you an amazing day ahead! 😊
