Hello!
I have an HP Elitebook 840 G6 with an HP Ultraslim docking station (Product ID D9Y32AA#ABA). Having read that my laptop was capable of projecting to 4K resolution, I recently bought a new 4K monitor. However, my computer does not project to the new monitor (it displayed fine to my old 1080P monitor which I removed).
Here are the things I have already tried:
- Updated drivers for laptop
- Updated drivers on new monitor
- Tried using docking station and used one of the DP ports using an DP to DP cable to the 4K monitor
- Tried not using docking station and used the HDMI port using an HDMI to DP cable with computer plugged using supplied power cord
- Tried not using docking station and used the HDMI port using an HDMI to HDMI cable with computer plugged using supplied power cord
- Tested out the new monitor on my desktop computer. The monitor is working fine.
To be clear, I am only trying to display to a single 4K monitor and am using a single Display port from the docking station to the monitor. I’m thinking that the docking station might not be capable of projecting 4K, but I’m not sure (shouldn’t it be able to project to at least a single 4K monitor?).
Thanks in advance!

The DP to DP cable should work. Please check your cable otherwise you can connect direct DP to DP using DP port on your computer, not from the dock

Thank you I will check the cable first. To be clear, if that does not work, you indicate to use the DP to DP cable not from the dock. However, my laptop does not have a DP port. Can you specify the instructions?

Sorry, I can't remember I read elsewhere but it has HDMI port (your machine can be on the left or right).
which is HDMI 1.4b which supports 4K, you can connect this port to monitor (HDMI or DP)
Regards.

So received new DP to DP cables and still had the same issue. Did some further research and found out that there is a firmware update to the Ultraslim docking station. After running the firmware update (version 2.33) problem was solved! Now able to see my 4k display at 60K while still using the docking station. Thanks for the help!
Cheers,
Roman
