Hi @Damaal-Jodan

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP laptop keeps rebooting and won’t fully turn on, it’s likely stuck in a Windows startup loop or automatic repair cycle. You can break this loop by accessing recovery options and performing a system restore or clean boot.

I understand how alarming it is when your laptop won’t start properly—especially if it was working fine before a recent update or shutdown.

Let’s walk through a recovery plan that can help you regain access without losing your files.

Step-by-Step Recovery for HP Laptop Stuck in Reboot Loop

1. Perform a Hard Reset

This clears residual power and resets hardware detection.

  • Power off the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove any external devices.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect power and try turning it on.

2. Interrupt the Boot Cycle to Access Recovery

If the laptop keeps rebooting, force Windows to enter recovery mode:

  • Power on and immediately press Esc or F11 repeatedly.
  • If that doesn’t work, power off and repeat the process 3–4 times.
  • Eventually, Windows should load the Recovery Environment.

3. Use Advanced Recovery Options

Once in recovery:

  • Select Advanced Options > Startup Repair
    If this fails:
  • Go to Advanced Options > System Restore
Choose a restore point before the issue began.

These options attempt to fix Windows without affecting your personal files.

4. Boot into Safe Mode

If recovery doesn’t work, try Safe Mode:

  • In Recovery Environment:
Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart
  • Press 4 or F4 for Safe Mode
  • Once in Safe Mode:
    • Uninstall recent updates via Settings > Windows Update > Update History
    • Run a virus scan and check disk health

5. Use HP Cloud Recovery Tool (If Windows Is Unrecoverable)

If nothing works, you can reinstall Windows using HP’s recovery image:

  • Download from HP: HP Cloud Recovery Tool
  • Run the tool on another PC and create a recovery USB (8GB+)
  • Boot your laptop from the USB (press Esc, then F9 for boot menu)
  • Follow on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows

Choose “Keep my files” if available during setup.

Let me know your exact HP model and whether you can access BIOS or recovery mode—I’ll guide you through tailored steps.
