In the past few days, my less than 6 months old new omnibook ultra laptop touch keyboard didn't show up automatically or even if i press the touch key board icon. Every update seemed to make it worse. This is not the on-screen keyboard that you can turn on in the settings. I mean the regular touch keyboard that shows up everywhere automatically. Any tips to make it come back?
I have tried several things: 1) the setting of touch keyboard at "always on" or show up when no keyboard. 2) restarted the laptop several times; 3) installed another language and move up/down, restart. and 4) tried the services.msc, the list does not have touch keyboard. (I have another laptop which is windows 10 upgraded to 11, the touch keyboard is working fine, but it also does not have touch keyboard in the list.) 5) call HP service, it transfer my calls several times, either wrong department, disconnect or keep transferring. Took me more than 3 hours and still no answer.

Hi @auntbai,

I understand your less than 6-month-old OMNIBOOK Ultra touch keyboard has stopped appearing automatically in Windows 11, and previous attempts like changing settings, restarting, adding languages, and checking services haven’t fixed it. Let’s go step by step to try restoring it.
1. Verify Touch Keyboard Settings
Go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar.
Ensure “Touch keyboard” is toggled on under Taskbar corner icons.
Try tapping the keyboard icon in the taskbar to see if it appears.
Note: You mentioned you’ve tried this, but double-check after the next steps.
2. Check Tablet Mode & Touch Support
Press Windows + A to open Action Center.
Make sure Tablet Mode is either on or off depending on preference.
Ensure your device detects touch: Settings > Devices > Touchscreen. If the touch is not working properly, the keyboard may not auto-appear.
3. Restart Touch Keyboard Service (if available)
Press Windows + R, type services.msc, press Enter.
Look for “Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service”.
If present, right-click > Restart.
Set Startup type to Automatic.
If the service is missing, this may indicate a Windows component issue.
4. Re-register Touch Keyboard via PowerShell
Press Windows + X, select Windows Terminal (Admin) or PowerShell (Admin).
Run the following command:
Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.Windows.InputApp | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Restart the PC and check if the touch keyboard now appears automatically.
5. Check Windows Updates & Optional Features
Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all pending updates.
Check Optional Features:
Settings > Apps > Optional Features > Add a feature.
Look for Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel and install if missing.
6. Test in a New User Profile
Create a new local Windows user: Settings > Accounts > Family & other users > Add account.
Log in to the new profile and check if the keyboard appears automatically.
If it works, the issue may be corrupted user profile settings.
7. Restore System (if needed)
If none of the above works, consider System Restore to a point before the updates caused the issue.
Settings > System > Recovery > Open System Restore.
I hope this helps.
