I just bought this laptop yesterday. It's supposed to be a mobile workstation, so why is the lowest brightness setting headache inducing even in daylight, let alone at night? You would expect a digital workstation, a computer specifically targeted at an audience that will be staring at their monitor for several hours on end, to have a reasonable and health conscious brightness range. It seems like it should be a basic health requirement for every monitor.

I've been using Dimmer by Nelson Pires and it's a great piece of software, but its limitations to software color adjustments mean it's no substitute for an actual dimmed LED panel. It doesn't dim all elements, flashes when switching windows and obviously isn't the most sustainable or efficient way to tackle the problem to begin with. So on to my question: Is there any firmware or driver solution for this problem? Is there any chance HP will update the drivers/firmware?

I bought this laptop because having a capable PC is extremely important for my degree, especially with COVID, and this is the only one supported by my university's program (they hand out a loan device if yours needs to be repaired). So I would really appreciate it if there's a solution to this problem or the team at HP works on updating the firmware. Otherwise I think I'll have to send it back simply because of the eyestrain and headaches (and probably insomnia in the long run) it's causing me, which is something I REALLY don't want to do.
