HP 2311x 23-inch Diagonal LED Monitor
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

If using HDMI cable to conect from my current Dell 3268 pc to HP 2311x monitor I get a message telling me to adjust display to 1920 x 1080 @ 60 hZ. Even though the display is currently set to 1920 x 1080 @60 hz I then have to switch off the monitor and switch back on to get a display. I have used another PC and get the same issue and changing the display or frequency has no effect in either case. This problem does not occure with a VGA connect. My problem is that I am looking to upgrade my PC and the model(s) that I am looking at do not have VGA connectivity, so will I have to change the monitor? Any help will be most welcome.

Your monitor also supports 1920 x 1080 max

Sounds like you need a driver for your monitor. It is too old, I can not find its driver. Please use VGA cable to connect

Thanks for your reply Banhein. Points noted. Can I use a VGA adapter for HDMI output from PC to a VGA input on monitor@

From HDMI (digital) to VGA (analog) you need a proper converter/adapter. How did you connect VGA before ? Why not use that directly having a middle man is the last option.

Connection before was via cable directly from VGA output on PC to VGA input on monitor. My replacement PC will not have a VGA output.

As mentioned above, from DP, HDMI, DVI to VGA you need a proper converter/adapter from computer to monitor
