Pavilion 8th Gen i5 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased a PAVILION 8th Gen i5 laptop about a month ago and bluetooth is not pairing after inserting bluetooth USB.

I bought MPOW 059 bluetooth headphone along with a bluetooth USB (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KYBQTDY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to wirlessly connect my heahphone. However, when I try to pair my headphone to my laptop's bluetooth wirelssly, I don't see an option to pair it neither can I hear any music. I tried the solution posted on this link but it did not work: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/BCM20702A0-Windows-10-64-bit-d...

I can listen using an extention chord to the headphone but I cannot seem to pair the bluetooth to wirelessly work at all.

Welcome to HP Support Community

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Hi KrazyToad - first and for most I want to say thank you for the prompt response. I am an HP fun and will continue to be!!! I followed your recommendation and it did not work despite the fact that it took longer time to install the updates. I am suspecious with the Mpow Bluetooth USB and it is not worth my time. I will be discarding it and will no longer purchase such a thing from xmpow (https://www.xmpow.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=usb).

Thank you so very much for your assitance!!!
