I bought my laptop (HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 Laptop 16 -f1xxx) in October 2022 and have only been using it since July 2023. Over time, spots have started to form on the display. These also seem to get bigger and bigger over time. My laptop has a black frame at the top, which houses the camera and other sensors. Below this is the touch display. These spots are gradually getting bigger right at the edge of the black frame. At first I thought it was dirt or scratches on the screen. As soon as I start the laptop, the light from the screen can still shine through, so that these spots are no longer visible when the screen is bright. I then went online to find out about other similar defects from other customers. Apparently this problem is not exactly new.
Because I still have my warranty on my end device and quality should be the top priority for a 2000 € laptop, I contacted HP customer support. But they simply said that general damage or scratches on the screen are not covered by the factory warranty. This means that the warranty practically doesn't cover half of the laptop. It's really sad to hear that even the warranty is worth nothing these days. Especially when it turned out that it was probably a design flaw in the laptop. At least that's what I gathered from the other customer experiences, which you can look up on this page here. For this reason, I unfortunately cannot recommend the HP Spectre. I wanted my first laptop to be something special. But with such an expensive device, I really didn't expect anything like this. Especially from HP.
