Just yesterday McAfee pop started and I cannot get rid  of it.

 

It  completely blocks screen

McAfee has a dashboard that where you can disable notifications. Read about it here

I ended up removing McAfee as it was causing timeouts when trying to phone home.  It may be just my system or location but their servers were not accessible and I got several 30 second timeouts that the Event Viewer showed as caused by McAfee.

To uninstall completely you may need their special uninstall app,.
