Hi @Issue_Finder,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding camera and microphone issues on your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Check Hardware Connections
- Ensure there are no obstructions covering the camera lens or microphone.
- Verify if the camera privacy cover (if applicable) is blocking the camera.
2. Check Device Manager
Open Device Manager:
- Select the Search icon in the taskbar.
- Type Device Manager in the search box and select the Device Manager app.
Check for any issues with the Camera and Microphone:
- Expand the 'Cameras' and 'Audio inputs and outputs' categories.
- Look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark or red cross, which indicates a problem.
- Right-click on the affected device and select 'Update driver' or 'Enable device' if disabled.
3. Update or Roll Back Drivers
Update Drivers:
- Right-click on the camera/microphone device in Device Manager.
- Select 'Update driver' and choose 'Search automatically for updated driver software.'
Roll Back Drivers:
- Right-click on the camera/microphone device in Device Manager.
- Select 'Properties,' then go to the 'Driver' tab.
- Click on 'Roll Back Driver' if the option is available.
4. Check Privacy Settings
- Camera and Microphone Privacy Settings:
- Go to 'Settings' by pressing Win + I.
- Select 'Privacy' and then 'Camera' or 'Microphone' from the left pane.
- Ensure that the toggle switch under 'Allow apps to access your camera/microphone' is turned on.
- Scroll down and make sure the specific apps that need access are also turned on.
5. Run the Windows Troubleshooter
- Using Windows Troubleshooter:
- Go to 'Settings' by pressing Win + I.
- Select 'Update & Security' and then 'Troubleshoot' from the left pane.
- Click on 'Additional troubleshooters' and find 'Camera' or 'Recording Audio'.
- Run the troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.
6. Restart Your Laptop
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve hardware issues.
I hope this helps.
