HP ENVY Laptop - 15-ep0011na
Microsoft Windows 11

I just purchased the HP USB-C G5 docking station so I can connect to my monitor and switch between using my own laptop and personal laptop with ease. The monitor is connected to my docking station via HDMI, however the monitor keeps on disconnecting intermittently and it is getting very annoying. The display on my monitor will go black for 5-10 seconds and then reconnect. The HDMI cable I am using had no issues when it was connected to my laptop directly. I have checked the cable is plugged into the monitor and dock securely.

Monitor I use is ViewSonic VG3448 UWQHD VA Monitor

Laptop is a HP Envy 15-ep0011na

I have updated my drivers, I have updated the docking stations firmware.

I'm at a loss.

Would anyone be able to advise?

Dears,

I shared what I found with my colleagues, and one of them confirme that it happends on one of the 3 screens... and when we are looking at the port used... HDMI !

So, yes, if you are experienced micro-disconnection on your screen, check the port use and move to Display Port if possible.

Please, share also you experience. We may get a new firmware release for the docking station !

  Regards,

  Alexandre.

Well, I'm facing the same issue on one G5 docking station of a colleague.

The one I'm using has the 2 external monitors connected using DisplayPort connectors and I don't experience that kind of issue. So, I just replaced the HDMI cable by a DisplayPort and I hope the problem will be gone. Stay tuned !

I switched to a display port cable this weekend and so far I haven't experienced any screen downtime, although I have yet to use for a full day as I've been in the office since switching, fingers crossed the issue is resolved. I have a sneaking suspicion that as the display port supports UHD as my monitors resolution is 3440*1440 the HDMI only supports FHD which is the reason I was getting the screen cutting out when using the HDMI connection.
