Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My mouse seems to be lagging and jittering whenever I move it with the touchpad. I bought it 1 year ago and the touchpad has only been acting up this week. I followed these steps:

Hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In the Device Manager window, expand Mice and other pointing devices.

Right click the Synaptics device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, shutdown the notebook.

Disconnect any peripheral, including any usb Mouse.

Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

This fixed it for a day, however the mouse has started to lag and jitter again.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

@Jason52,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the touchpad on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you perform a system restore back to the date when the touchpad was working fine.

Follow the steps in the below article to perform a system restore.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi, I've tried to do a system restore, however I don't have a previous restore point. Is there anything else I can do?

@Jason52

Please back-up the data and then try re-installing the operating system -

1. Shutdown the computer.
2. Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3. Press F11 once for System Recovery.
4. Choose the Keyboard Layout.
5. Click on Troubleshoot.
6. Go to Recovery Manager and click on System Recovery.
Note : Back-up all your data as System Recovery will delete everything that you had saved or installed on the computer.

Let me know.
