Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with the built-in webcam on my HP laptop. Whenever I open the Camera app, the screen is completely blank and the webcam light keeps flashing on and off. It doesn't stay solid or show any video feed at all.
I've already tried the following:
Restarting the laptop
Checking for driver updates in Device Manager
Disabling and re-enabling the webcam
Running the Windows Troubleshooter
None of these steps have fixed the problem. Has anyone experienced this or know a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Thank you for sharing the issue and for already trying several solid troubleshooting steps!
A flashing webcam light with no video feed typically points to a driver conflict, privacy setting, or (in some cases) hardware trouble. Let’s try a few more advanced steps that often resolve this issue on the Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 series:
Step 1: Check for a Physical Camera Switch or Function Key:
Some HP laptops have a:
Physical camera switch (near the webcam)
Or a keyboard shortcut (like Fn + F10 or Fn + F8, marked with a camera icon)
👉 Try toggling that key or switch to re-enable the webcam.
Step 2: Verify Camera Privacy Settings:
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera
Ensure both:
Camera access is ON
Let apps access your camera is ON
Also scroll down and check that the Camera app has permission.
Step 3: Uninstall and Reinstall the Camera Driver:
Press Win + X > Device Manager
Expand Cameras (or "Imaging Devices")
Right-click the webcam > Uninstall device
✅ Check Delete the driver software for this device (if available)
Reboot the laptop — Windows will auto-reinstall the correct driver.
Step 4: Test in Other Apps:
Open Zoom, MS Teams, or Google Meet to check if the camera works in other apps.
If it only fails in the Camera app, it may be a software glitch in that specific app.
Step 5: Check BIOS Settings and Update:
Restart the laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
Look for a setting related to the Integrated Camera — make sure it’s Enabled.
Exit and Save Changes.
Also check for any BIOS/Drivers or firmware updates via HP Support Assistant.
If the Issue Persists…
If the webcam still won’t activate, the blinking light suggests a hardware-level problem -possibly a loose internal cable or faulty camera module. In that case, please contact HP Support for repair options -especially if your device is still under warranty, or consider taking your laptop to a local laptop/PC repair shop for evaluation/repair.
Let us know what worked for you -it’ll help others too!
