Product: HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ee1000 (2E2L0AV)

My HP Envy laptop's screen dims when I click on my external monitor/display. The laptop brightness returns to normal after I click back on its screen. It happens only when clicking or typing. For instance, right now I'm typing this post on my external monitor. My laptop screen is dimmed. Any suggestions to correct it? I have adaptive brightness set to never.
