Microsoft Windows 11

I just gave my friend a new 49" monitor and took his HP Omen 34c and it was working fine last night but now is flickering every few seconds. I'm running Windows 11 23H1, RTX 3060ti with newest GPU drivers and Win11 is fully patched. I'm using a known good DisplayPort cable. I've never had this problem on this PC before. Any suggestions?

Hi @azasadny,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Flickering issues with monitors can be caused by various factors, including hardware and software issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the flickering problem with your HP Omen 34C.

  • Check the Power Supply: Ensure that the monitor is receiving stable power. Try plugging it into a different power outlet or using a different power cable if possible.
  • Inspect the DisplayPort Connection: Even though you mentioned you're using a known good DisplayPort cable, it's worth double-checking the connection. Make sure the cable is securely connected to both the monitor and your GPU.
  • Update GPU Drivers: Although you mentioned having the newest GPU drivers, sometimes newer drivers can introduce compatibility issues. Try rolling back to a previous version of the GPU drivers to see if that resolves the flickering problem.
  • Check Monitor Settings: Check the monitor's settings menu for any settings related to refresh rate, adaptive sync (if applicable), or any other display settings that might affect flickering. Try adjusting these settings to see if it makes a difference.
  • Test with Different Inputs: If your monitor has multiple input options (e.g., HDMI), try connecting it to your PC using a different type of cable to see if the flickering persists.
  • Try a Different Monitor: If possible, try connecting a different monitor to your PC to see if the flickering issue occurs with that monitor as well. This can help determine if the problem lies with the monitor or the PC.
  • Check for Interference: Nearby electronic devices or appliances can sometimes cause interference with the monitor's display. Try moving any electronic devices away from the monitor to see if it reduces the flickering.
  • Hardware Inspection: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there might be a hardware problem with the monitor itself.

By systematically troubleshooting through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the flickering issue with your HP Omen 34C monitor.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
