Hi @ButterflyRm08

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the issue—I'm really sorry your HP True Vision HD Camera isn’t working properly on your HP 15-fd0000 laptop. That kind of disruption can be especially frustrating when you’ve already tried updating drivers and checking for physical obstructions.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery process to help restore your webcam functionality.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for HP True Vision HD Camera

1. Check for Physical Privacy Controls

Some HP laptops include a camera shutter switch or keyboard shortcut that disables the webcam.

  • Look for a sliding shutter near the camera lens and slide it open
  • Press the camera shutter key (often F8) or Fn + F8 to toggle the webcam

If the shutter is engaged, Windows may report the camera as blocked or unavailable.

2. Review Camera Privacy Settings in Windows

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings
  • Go to Privacy & Security > Camera
  • Ensure Camera access is turned On
  • Scroll down and confirm that apps like Camera, Zoom, or Teams have permission

These settings can silently block access even if the camera is detected.

3. Reinstall the Camera Driver

  • Press Windows + X, then select Device Manager
  • Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras
  • Right-click on HP True Vision HD Camera and choose Uninstall device
  • Restart your laptop

Windows will attempt to reinstall the correct driver automatically.

4. Manually Install the Latest Driver

These updates help restore proper device detection and functionality.

5. Test Using the Camera App

  • Press Windows + S, type Camera, and open the app
  • If the app opens but shows a black screen:
    • Try switching cameras using the rotate icon
    • Confirm no other app is using the camera in the background

This helps isolate whether the issue is hardware or software-related.

Let me know what happens after reinstalling the driver or adjusting privacy settings—I’ll guide you further based on that. You’re doing everything right by staying persistent—I’ll stay with you until it’s resolved.
