HP Spectre x360 15'
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought a new laptop and it came with an active stylus pen. The pen will do it's normal hover mode where it has the little dot on the screen, but when I move it a little bit closer without touching the screen it will start writing. it's really annoying and makes the pen unusable because when I try to write it just connects everything together unless I lift the pen way up. The pen is brand new and this happened the first time I used it. I've seen some people say to remove the battery but mine doesn't have a battery it plugs in and recharges. This problem happens everywhere I use it even on the desktop. I think it might be a problem with the pen itself or my screen, but maybe there's a way to calibrate it so that it waits until its actually touching the screen to write?

Welcome to HP Support Community

I would like to help

  1. In Windows, search for and open Calibrate the screen for pen and touch input.

  2. On the Display tab, click Setup.

Setup button in the Tablet PC Settings window

  3. Click Pen input.

  4. Follow the on-screen directions to identify your screen as a touch screen.

Also ensure you have all the latest drivers by running the HP Support Assistant and check for Windows updates as well

Thank you
