My HP elitebook folio 1040 G2 camera is showing black even when the webcam light is on

Thanks for reaching out.

Can you check if the camera driver is visible under device manager.

(on Windows search, type Device manager and check if the camera is visible).

If yes, try to expand the camera section and right click and select uninstall.

Now, restart the PC and the driver will be reinstalled.

Now, check if the issue is sorted.

Check if the camera is visible in the BIOS.

Restart PC and keep tapping the F10 key > Select built in devices and check if the camera is visible and enabled.

If the issue persists, please update the BIOS and the camera driver from HP Website.
