I have plugged in my HP pen to charge before its first use. It has been over 3 hours that the red light is on. It hasn't charged yet? I am aware once charged the red light changes to white. That hasn't happened yet. Is my pen spoilt?

Hi @Maddie1190,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

It sounds like your HP pen may be experiencing charging issues. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the problem:

Troubleshooting Steps for HP Pen Charging Issues

Check the Connection:

  • Ensure that the pen is properly connected to the charging port. Make sure the cable is securely plugged into both the pen and the power source.

Use a Different Charging Cable:

  • Sometimes the charging cable itself can be faulty. Try using a different compatible cable to see if the pen charges.

Try a Different Power Source:

  • Plug the charging cable into a different USB port or a different power adapter to see if the issue persists.

Inspect the Charging Port:

  • Check the charging port on the pen for any visible damage or debris. Clean the port gently with a soft brush or compressed air if necessary.

Reset the Pen:

  • If the pen has a reset button or method, try resetting it. Refer to the pen's user manual for specific instructions on how to reset it.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Some HP pens may have firmware updates available. Check the HP Support website for any firmware updates for your pen model.

Battery Status Check:

  • If your pen connects via Bluetooth, check the battery status through the connected device's settings or the companion app, if available.

Leave It Charging for Longer:

  • Sometimes, if the pen's battery was completely drained, it might take longer than usual to start charging. Leave it plugged in for a few more hours and see if the light changes.

If the pen still does not charge after trying the above steps, it is possible that there is a hardware issue with the pen.

I recommend you contact phone support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

If your HP pen has been charging for over 3 hours and the red light is still on, it could indicate a few potential issues. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Check the Charging Cable and Port:

    • Ensure the charging cable and port are functioning properly.
    • Try using a different cable or USB port to see if that makes a difference.
