Hi @HeidiBug22,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
There are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve touchscreen issues. Save your work, close all applications, and then restart your laptop.
Check if the touchscreen is disabled: Windows allows you to disable the touchscreen feature to save power or prevent accidental touches. To check if it's disabled:
a. Press the Windows key + X and select "Device Manager" from the menu.
b. In Device Manager, locate "Human Interface Devices" and expand it.
c. Look for a touchscreen device (it might be called "HID-compliant touch screen"). Right-click on it and select "Enable" if available.
Update drivers: Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause touchscreen issues. To update your touchscreen driver:
a. Go to the HP official website.
b. Enter your laptop model number to find the latest touchscreen driver for your laptop.
c. Download and install the driver following the on-screen instructions.
Perform a system restore: If the issue started after your daughter played Roblox, you can try using Windows System Restore to revert your system to a point before the problem occurred. Here's how:
a. Type "System Restore" in the Windows search bar and select "Create a restore point" from the results.
b. In the System Properties window, click the "System Restore" button.
c. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system to a previous state.
Check for Windows updates: Sometimes, Windows updates include fixes for hardware issues. Make sure your operating system is up-to-date:
a. Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Windows Update."
b. Click "Check for updates" and install any pending updates.
Check for third-party software conflicts: It's possible that third-party software, like antivirus or system optimization tools, may interfere with touchscreen functionality. Try temporarily disabling or uninstalling such software to see if it resolves the issue.
Perform a system reset or reinstall Windows: If none of the above steps work, you may need to perform a system reset or reinstall Windows to ensure a fresh start. Be sure to back up your important data before doing this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
