HP Pavilion 13 x360 PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

A week or so ago my brightness controls randomly stopped working. My screen brightness cannot be changed/adjusted with the f2 and f3 keys or in the display settings when the laptop is running on battery or power cord connected to wall. How do I fix this? Thank you.

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Pavilion 13 x360 series laptop. I read that the brightness controls (f2 and f3) randomly stopped working. This happens when the laptop is running only on battery power and also while on AC adapter power.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Please let me know the exact product model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
  • Did any software changes or updates happen on the laptop recently?

I did some research and suggest you to install the HP System Event Utility on the following link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69001-69500/sp69229.exe

You may update the graphics drivers on your laptop. If you could let me know the laptop's exact model then I can search for an updated driver.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Keep me posted on the results. Cheers! 🙂

Hello my product number is G6T00UA#ABL. The only software changes were that I took my laptop into BestBuy and they replaced the battery.

I installed the software. It said I already had it. I copied it over the software I had. Nothing happened.
