Hi @PaulinaX,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop's camera isn't working, there are several steps you can take to try to resolve the issue.
- Check for physical obstructions: Ensure that there's nothing physically blocking the camera lens.
- Restart your laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can fix many issues, including problems with hardware like the camera.
- Update drivers: Make sure your camera drivers are up to date. You can do this through the Device Manager on Windows. Look for the Imaging devices category, right-click on your camera, and select Update driver.
- Check camera settings: Sometimes the camera might be disabled in the settings. Go to the Device Manager, find your camera, right-click on it, and select Enable if it's disabled.
- Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter: This built-in Windows tool can sometimes identify and fix hardware issues automatically. You can find it by searching for "troubleshoot" in the Windows search bar.
- Check antivirus software: Sometimes antivirus software can block the camera. Temporarily disable your antivirus software and see if the camera starts working.
- Check third-party software: If you've installed any third-party camera software, make sure it's not conflicting with the built-in camera app. Try uninstalling or disabling it temporarily.
- Check for Windows updates: Make sure your operating system is up to date. Sometimes updates include fixes for hardware issues.
- Perform a system restore: If the camera was working previously and suddenly stopped, you might consider restoring your system to a point before the issue started occurring.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
