Hello everyone I have a Microsoft teams interview this evening and my camera isn't working for the video, it also isn't working in zoom. I have allowed access, I have done restarts and it still isn't working.

Hi @Kristin201,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your camera is not working in Microsoft Teams or Zoom. HP recommends these checks:

Quick fixes

  • Check the webcam privacy switch or shutter key

    • Some HP notebooks have a privacy switch, privacy cover, or webcam shutter key that disables the camera.

    • If your webcam shutter key light is on, the webcam is off. Press the key again to turn it back on. On some models, press fn + shutter key.

  • Test the camera in the Windows Camera app

    • Open Camera from the Windows search box.

    • If you see an image there, the webcam hardware is working.

  • Make sure the webcam is selected in Teams/Zoom

    • In the app settings, select the HP camera device. It might appear as HP Webcam, HP HD Camera, HP 4K Webcam, USB Video Device, or similar.

  • Close other apps using the camera

    • Only one webcam app should be active at a time.

If it still does not work

  • Verify Windows camera permissions

    • In Settings > Privacy & security > Camera, confirm Camera access is On, and the app is allowed.

  • Reinstall Teams or Zoom

    • Uninstall the webcam app and install the latest version from its official source.

  • Update the webcam driver

    • Use HP Support Assistant to check for updates.

    • Or go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads and install the latest camera driver. HP Support Assistant | HP® Support.

  • Use Device Manager

    • Open Device Manager.

    • Update the camera driver, or uninstall the camera device and then select Scan for hardware changes.

  • Switch to the UVC driver

    • In Device Manager, update the driver and choose USB Video Device from the list of available drivers.

If the webcam is missing

  • In Device Manager, if there is no Imaging devices category:

    • Select Action > Scan for hardware changes

    • If still missing, run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics or consider service.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
